Firing Mike Brown Won't fix the Cavs Deficiencies

There's an old saying that goes, "It ain't about the X's and the O's.  It's about the Jimmies and the Joe's."  No where does that statement prove true the most than in the NBA, where talent, health, and having the best starting 3 in the league are enough to get you to a championship.  Or did Doc Rivers whose days in Boston were said to be numered suddenly become a genius.  No, it was after Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen joined up with Paul Pierce that the Celtics were able to climb back into league relevence.  Couple that with the improved play of Rajon Rondo, and presto you have an NBA Championship.  So when I here former NBA Coach of the Year winner Mike Brown ( A ridiculous award Phil Jackson with his prestigious resume won some time back in the 90's) and rumors swirling around his job security (with Pat Riley being the next rumored hire) a couple of months removed from winning the award, all I can do is laugh.  He would join the likes of Rick Carlisle, Avery Johnson, and Sam Mitchell who were fired soon after winning the "prestigious" award. Yes, somehow Mike Brown, over the course of a month became diminished in his coaching duties.

But whether or not the rumors are true or not doesn't matter.  What needs to be addressed is the deficiencies of the Cavaliers team, a team that Mike Brown didn't construct.  Jalen Rose said it best yesterday that gone are the days of the one dimensional specialists.  The Anderson Varejoa's and Ben Wallace's of the world who can't score are not enough to win championships.  But Jalen forgot to mention 2 other glaring facts, which are you're not going to win without a true low post presence and or having a starting shooting guard (Delonte West) who's listed at 6'3 but really closer to 6'2. Add that to the fact that the Cavs aren't very athletic outside of Lebron James and the Cavs look more and more like a team not built for the championship.
